I love the Discworld series. They are thoughtful while being hilarious and often my family will hear me laughing out loud while I read them. My Uncle first introduced me to Ank-Morkpork and its many smelly wonders through Men at Arms, which features some of my favorite characters: The Watch.

In September the latest Discworld novel hits the shelves and I am beyond excited. Have any of you read Discworld?

From the Publisher:

Moist von Lipwig, condemned prisoner turned postal worker extraordinaire (see Pratchett's Going Postal) is back! Except this time he's been put in charge of a different branch of the government: he's responsible for overseeing the printing of Ankh-Morpork's first paper currency.

Filled with Pratchett's usual sharp wit, keen social commentary, and sagacious observations, Making Money is another highly anticipated volume in the internationally bestselling Discworld canon.

Of the Discworld books which would you recommend someone start with who has never read them before?

Cee, oh wow that's a hard one. There are several sets of characters that have... story lines. The Guards. The Witches. The Wizards. Death.

Death is always a good one. I would start with Mort or Reaperman for Death.

Guards!Guards! is the first one for the Watch but they get much much better as they go along.

Katie, Thanks. The only thing I have read of his so far is- Good Omens, which he wrote with Neil Gaiman. I recommend it if you have not read that one.

Cee, I liked 'Good Omens' but not as much as just the Discworld's stuff. I liked Death in that book though and I LOVED the angel and demon thing. too wonderful. :)

Nothingman, OH! Soul Music is my favorite one! I love Susan. She's just so fantastic... and then there is the Theif of Time with her in it... and that one is perfect!

Isn't Death great? I love the Death of Rats too... just too funny:)
